Course Title: Spanish IV
2 Semesters – 10 Credits – 5 Classes per Week
 
Course Description
 
                This advanced college preparatory course is designed to build upon the basic and  intermediate skills developed in Spanish I, II, and III.  Lesson plans development will focus on advanced composition, pronunciation, and speaking skills. A special emphasis will be placed upon utilizing advanced speaking skills as a means to spread the Gospel  through communication with nonbelievers in the Hispanic community.  Students will continue to study the Bible (Spanish translation) and departmental CBTs will be integrated into instruction through discussion, cultural and traditional studies, a missionary biography, and various literary reading selections.  In order to more fully immerse students in the language, all speaking will be in Spanish the entire class period     and all compositions will be written in Spanish.
 
 
Course Objectives:
  • Recognize that language is part of God’s handiwork and will be used to share His story to the people of the world.
  •  Integrate departmental CBTs in a meaningful way through and understanding of the Hispanic culture and traditions.
  • Build speaking, reading, listening, and writing skills to reflect an advanced level of development.
  • Utilize speaking skills outside of the classroom in the community and on            missions’ trips.
