Course Title: Graphic Arts
2 Semesters – 10 Credits – 5 Class periods per week
 
 
Course Objectives:
This course is designed to expand upon the understanding of creativity supported by the Holy Scriptures (Phil 4:8, Col. 3:23-24.)To also build upon and understand the Elements and Principles of Art as presented in Art I.And to achieve introductory mastery of Graphic Art and Design through the use of Photoshop, Illustrator, and In Design.
 
Course Description:
Through demonstration, lecture and teacher created instruction on computer; the students will learn the tools to create projects designed to gain an understanding of all graphic art programs listed.
 
Students will also demonstrate understanding of the color wheel and the differences of primaries on computer in comparison to pigments.
 
The class instruction will also include study in balance, rhythm, unity, leading the eye, color layering, editing, filtering, utilizing fonts, and shapes in design.  Students will use Photoshop to edit photos, manipulate text, and incorporate placing text pictures, and columns InDesign.
 
Students will use these creative elements in the designing of brochures, posters, magazine layouts, and logos.

Prerequisites:
Art I (including: color theory, linear perspective, aerial perspective, watercolors, acrylics, still-lifes, landscapes, portraits.)
