Course Title: Choir
2 Semesters – 10 Credits – 5 Class periods per week

Course Description:
Students rehearse daily in order to accurately and skillfully perform learned music at 4 major concerts a year, choral music festivals, and public performances. Skills and musical elements studied include: breathing, posture, diction, sight-singing, basic musical terms and rudimental musical elements, various musical styles in history, singing of various foreign languages, and proper performance techniques.  Students will listen to recordings and observe live performances of vocal music groups in order to identify and recognize technical accuracy and desired vocal music skills.
Course Objectives:
 Students will be able to secure knowledge of musical elements that support the notion that “Music was complexly designed by God for His pleasure and Glory.” Students will learn skills for upcoming performances, grasping the creative relationship they have with God, sharing in His gift of music. (Exodus 28:3)  Students will apply learned musicality of vocal skills, techniques, and performance criteria for more advanced musical literature, and prepare for higher level music, and competitive performances.  Students will gain a greater understanding of God’s plan for musical expression, worship, giftedness, excellence, and expectation of effective musicianship.
