Course Title: Art III and Art IV
2 Semesters – 10 Credits – 5 Class periods per week
Course Description:
Art III and IV are taken in succession and are designed as portfolio building classes. Students use skills developed in Art I and Art II as a foundation for success in Art III and IV. These courses are mostly independent courses where students work at their own pace, according to their artistic strengths. Art III and IV are designed for the more serious art student desiring to further their education after high school.
Course Objectives:
Students will develop their own, unique style of art. To help guide them in this discovery, students are given five required, general assignments to be completed within the year. These include landscape, portrait, still-life, and charcoal works. Students find their own subjects and reference material and interpret them in their own style. Students will gain well-founded understanding of their strengths and weaknesses while mastering all major painting media and styles.
