Course Title: Art I
2 Semesters – 10 Credits – 5 Class periods per week
Course Description:
Through demonstration, lecture, illustration, and textbook, students will learn the tools and skills to create projects from an artist’s point of view. Students will complete exercises in shapes, lines, angles, texture, and thickness. They will learn linear perspective, values of light and dark, and how to create form and shape. Art I introduces the student to color theory. They will study the color wheel and how colors effect our emotions and interpretation of an artistic piece, how colors affect each other, and aerial perspective.
Course Objectives:
This course is designed to expand upon the understanding of creativity supported by the Holy Scriptures (Phil 4:8, Col. 3:23-24.) Students in Art I will concentrate on learning critical techniques, linear and aerial perspective, and be introduced to artistic composition.
