Course Title:  Algebra II
2 Semesters – 10 Credits – 5 Class Periods Per Week

 
Course Description: 
Algebra II is a two semester course in intermediate algebra, designed to meet the UC requirements for a third year of high school mathematics. This course establishes a solid foundation of the skills and concepts found in a second year Algebra curriculum. This course will prepare students for a further course in Standard Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus.
 
Course Objectives:
Students will be able to
To describe the wonders of all that God has made
To reveal the invisible attributes of God
To demonstrate how the application of mathematics can be used to honor God and to serve others                                         
Algebra II is a two semester integrated course in intermediate Algebra. The scope of this course will include the following:
 
Solving Equations and Inequalities
Properties and Graphs of Linear Relations and Functions
Solving Systems of Equations and Inequalities in 2 variables
Solving Systems of Equations in 2 variables and Matrices
Operations on Polynomials
Solving Quadratic Equations
Properties and Graphs of Quadratic Functions (including graphing  quadratic inequalities)
Properties and Graphs of Conics 
Polynomial Functions
Rational Polynomial Expressions
Exponential and Logarithmic Functions (base 10  &  base e)
Introduction to Probability and Statistics
Right Triangular Trigonometry and Law of Sines and Cosines

Larson and Boswell, Algebra II: Applications, Equations, Graphs, published by McDougal Littell, 2001
Required Materials:
           Bible, textbook, scientific calculator, writing materials
Pre-Requisites:
Completion of Algebra I and Geometry with a grade of a “C” or better, or by teacher's permission.
